BREWERTON, NY - August 20, 2012 (By Dave Medler) - After their on-track performances last weekend at the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways , Aron Backus, Thomas Cook and Bailey Groves are this week's "NAPA Know How" Performers of the week for August 17th and 18th.
At the Brewerton Speedway, Aron Backus, in only his third start of the season battled the 20 car field and came home with a stout second place finish behind 55 time career feature winner Chuck Powelczyk.
The Fulton Speedway had two drivers in the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman worth this week's award.
On Saturday night Thomas Cook was clearly the class of the field. Cook took the lead from three-time feature winner on lap 7 and never looked back for his first career win in the division.
The whole idea of the Novice Sportsman is for drivers to get laps and experience before moving up to the SUNY Canton Sportsman. Bailey Groves has shown improvement all season long culminating with a strong third place finish Saturday night behind Thomas Cook and Corey Barker.
For their performances Aron Backus, Thomas Cook and Bailey Groves will receive $100 “NAPA Know How" Performer of The Week that is awarded weekly at both Brewerton and Fulton Speedways to one driver who outperforms all others that week across all classes.
The new NAPA Brewerton and Fulton Speedway Racer Discount Card is again in place. Each active speedway competitor will receive a NAPA card that will provide discounted pricing on most racing related purchases throughout the 2012 race season. Drivers will need to sign up with Speedway officials to be eligible for the program.
