Waterfront-Calypso Cay Restaurants Present Racing Excitement This Friday July 27 At The Brewerton Speedway

BREWERTON, NY - July 23, 2012 (By Dave Medler) - The new clay is a winner, that has been said by racers and fans alike at the Brewerton Speedway. After a couple weeks of track crews working the new clay surface, the racing has been fast, producing two, three wide racing as we speed through the last week of July.

This week the Waterfront/Calypso Cay Restaurants present a great family fun night of racing this Friday, July 27.  On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, Nationwide Insurance IMCA Modifieds, Beaver River Distribution Mod Lites and Anchor Bar & Grill Four Cylinder Super Stocks.

Jr. Fan Club members there will be a night of fun for you too, as the Home Depot will be hosting another kid’s workshop. After the Jr. Fans sign in, they will have the opportunity to participate in building activities under the guidance of Home Depot representatives.

Last Friday night Alan Johnson picked up his 61st career win at the speedway in the Big Block Modifieds. With only six points race left in the 2012 season, Jimmy Phelps leads the point standing by 40 over defending track champion Matt Sheppard. Billy Decker, Ryan Phelps and Pat Ward are third through fifth in the standings.

With his victory last week, Canadian, Ryan Scott keeps hot on the heels of Kevan Cook for the IMCA Modified title. Cook holds a slim, one point lead over Scott going into this Friday night.

If you're going to pick up your first ever Brewerton Speedway win in the Mod Lites it might as well be by beating Tim Devendorf. Most in attendance last Friday night when Devendorf was in the lead figured the race was over. Somebody forgot to tell Jeff Isabell Jr. as he was able to run down and pass Devendorf on the last lap for his first ever victory at the speedway.

Chuck Powelczyk continued his dominance in the Anchor Bar & Grill Four Cylinder Super Stocks. Last Friday night he won his 7th feature in 8 starts.

Before or after the races stop into The Waterfront and Calypso Cay Restaurants for great food, drinks and atmosphere. They are located within sight distance of the Brewerton Speedway located on the Oswego County side of the Brewerton Bridge on Route 11.
